Prioritizing God Over Family: What Scripture Says
As a saint married or with family, scripture exhorts that you do not place your wife or family above God’s will for it will eventually lead to dishonour.
‘“Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven. “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’; and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.’ He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.’
Matthew 10:32-39
You must suffer the pain of honouring God so that He may prove to you that He will NEVER make you ashamed.
‘Then Peter said, “See, we have left all and followed You.” So He said to them,
“Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or parents or brothers or wife or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God,’
Luke 18:28-29 NKJV
You only have to prove His will so that you may teach your wife and family also to put God first in all things. To fail to do this will be a permanent limitation on you.

The same principle applies to women too as there is neither male nor female in Christ.
‘For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.’
Galatians 3:26-29 NKJV
Neither party must do this arrogantly lest the name of God be profaned. May the Lord strengthen and encourage you as you reflect upon the words of Christ.
